What can I do about it?

What can I do if I'm feeling...

What can I do when I'm feeling scared?

Tell someone – for example your parents, a friend or a teacher – don't just carry on feeling scared on your own. Try and do something that comforts you. You could watch a DVD/film with your family or your friends – having people around you might take your mind off feeling scared.

What can I do when I'm feeling excited?

What is making you excited? Write down why you feel like this. Find a quiet area away from things and chill out (i.e. away from the TV and lots of people).

What can I do when I'm feeling angry?

Think about what has made you angry, try to understand why you are feeling this way and try to "talk yourself down" – count to 10 if you need to calm down. Try and turn your anger into something constructive - do some exercise, go for a walk or run, or focus on something else.

What can I do if I'm feeling worried?

Talk with someone – tell them how you feel and why you are worried. Think about what is making you worry and consider what can be done to make it better. For example, if you are worrying about exams then try and get organized - write a revision plan to help you see when you need to be revising and when you can relax.

What can I do if I'm feeling sad?

Don't let it build up – try and express how you are feeling to somebody. Consider why you feel sad - what can you do to solve the problem. Think about things you have to look forward to, for example, if you have a football match at the weekend or are going out to the cinema with friends.
